Mixed feelings at first. These sound incredibly good (once you install the arc3 control program and configure the settings), and they are expensive but service only as a USB-connected earbud set. Without the USB C dongle, there is no using these buds – see next paragraph.♦ ♦ ♦ As is explained in the description, this is capable of being used on a Blue Tooth system; however, it will only work with devices that are LE (BLE or Blue Tooth Lowe Energy) capable, which is not found on the average phone or PC. So technically, it is Blue Tooth capable, just not on 99% of consumer devices. See the included screen shot from within arc3.When I first plugged in the dongle, Windows automatically found and then displayed the setup as an audio option. Before I installed and configured the arc3 software, these things sounded horrible. There was virtually no volume, and auto reproduction was worse than a set of dollar-store earbuds.✓ After installing arc3 and even before making any changes, the difference in audio quality was dramatic! From there, it just got better.✓ The software does allow for a lot of personalization and is not difficult to navigate or check out what the options are for. I’ve included screenshots of most options.✓ The kit includes four different-sized gels – small, medium, large, and extra large. The large are installed upon arrival. Most earbud kits come with just three gel sizes.✓ A short standard USB C charging cable is included.🚩 If you do not have an open USB-C connection, you will need to source an adapter to go to the standard Type-A connection. This is how I have it connected. I have a USB Type-A male-to-female cable run up on the rack that sits next to my desk. Having it elevated like this allows for a longer range on all headsets that use a dongle.👀 I have in the past used headsets and earbuds that offered a “spatial” sound setting and have always been disappointed. These earbuds are a different story. They really do a great job of providing the 360-surround immersion.► Audio quality is above what I have experienced in other high-end earbud systems. Whether it’s gaming or listening to music, everything is clear, and I have no problems making out the subtle background sounds, be it footsteps in a game or instruments in an orchestra.► Mic audio, whether in-game, Discord, online meeting in Zoom – Teams – etc., a phone call, or TeamSpeak (yes, some of us still use TeamSpeak because we can host our own server and have complete privacy vs Discord) when I ask about the mic audio I have only gotten positive responses.► When used on calls or online meetings, one earbud can be used with no degradation to audio quality.As with all new wireless earbuds, the case has an internal battery that can fully recharge the earbuds but only once. That said, the earbud batteries do hold a 12-hour charge, and after running them for 8 hours, the software still shows about 45% battery in both. In the software, the battery capacity of each earbud, as well as the case, is shown separately.► For going on the road, the case has a slot to lock in the USB dongle.The dongle has a switch, PS5/Mobile and PC. Obviously, the above description was when connected to a PC, but I found that when I plugged the dongle into my Android phone and switched it to Mobile, the phone automatically used it as the default audio device. There is no arc3 app, but the audio I got on my phone was excellent, as was the mic quality. For audio adjustment, I just used the equalizer and tuned it to my liking.» The downside here is that the dongle is large and sticks out from the phone’s USB connector so far that I would not want to tuck the phone into a pocket with this thing attached. There was no issue with the audio I heard or the mic on phone calls if I only used one of the buds. I won’t be using it with the phone, but it was interesting to know it works if needed.Okay, after all that, is it worth the $269.99 as I write this review? Yes. This set provides way above-average audio quality with extended battery life. The only caveat is that the arc3 software needs to be installed in order to get quality audio.I cannot find any negative to mention; I know people will shave off stars because the buds lack standard Blue Tooth connectivity, but these need to be compared to something like a high-end wired headset, not the $20 BT earbuds you find at a dollar store. Think of the Dongle as the replacement for that audio jack cable.
